Building a unified data platform with Databricks
Case Study
A global energy provider aimed to enhance its data-driven capabilities by building a Unified Data Platform (UDP). The goal was to consolidate their siloed data, improve data accessibility, and enable advanced analytics to optimize operations and customer experience. The client identified Databricks as the core technology for its platform due to its robust data processing & data management capabilities.
However, they faced a significant challenge: a lack of in-house expertise in Databricks implementation and advanced data engineering. To ensure success, the client used specialised contractors for this project.
Objective:
To hire a team of experienced professionals capable of designing, implementing, and optimizing a Databricks-powered Unified Data Platform while keeping to tight project deadlines.
Challenges:
· Specialised expertise: The client required professionals with deep knowledge of Databricks
· Time sensitivity
· Integration difficulties: The platform needed to integrate with legacy systems, real-time data streams, and multiple third-party APIs
Result/Summary:
Osmii hired certified Databricks Champions to help deliver this project on time and within scope of the clients demands.
The team was able to build a scalable solutions given Databricks flexibility this allowed the platform to grow with the client’s needs.
