If you partner with Osmii you will already know that we are an actions led business when it comes to belonging, diversity and inclusion. We are always looking at innovative ways to shine the spotlight on this topic and our long-standing relationship with OpenUK presented us with the perfect opportunity! OpenUK work tirelessly to promote an open technology world and in doing so, tackle many issues concerning diversity in technology.
This year, we are proud to be sponsoring the Belonging Award, at the Open technology awards event on November 11th. This award recognises D&I leaders and projects in the UK that demonstrate outstanding contribution and impact for the Diversity and Inclusion ecosystem. This includes solving unique challenges, with emphasis on transparency of opportunities, mentorship, coaching and nurturing the creation of diverse, inclusive and neuro-diverse communities. This can be any contribution including creation of engagement programmes, leadership, support, promoting awareness or encouraging D&I practices within the wider community.
Not only have we sponsored this event but we also had the pleasure of appointing one of the judges to evaluate the value and impact of these contributions.
This task led us to @jaicampbell. Jai is a senior Cloud Architect and is hugely active on the Open Source scene being a Founder of the London SRE meetup community, a Mentor at KubeCon, a Google Sponsored Advocate, and a collaborator at Google Women Tech-makers program.
His outstanding contributions and activity as well as being a fantastic placement and project partner to Osmii over the last 4 years, meant for us, he was a perfect match to judge such a prestigious event. https://openuk.uk/openuk-awards-second-edition-2021/
We wish the nominees the best of luck!
